Many of you are watching the unfolding tragedy that is impacting the community of Lewiston and all of Androscoggin county. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, families, first responders, law enforcement and the communities impacted by this horrible situation.
Please know that I have spoken with area superintendents as well as those western Maine Superintendents that are directly impacted. Although you may have heard that Winthrop has canceled tomorrow, most of the area school districts elected to wait until early tomorrow morning to make any cancellation decisions. Based on how events unfold through the night we will make decisions that prioritize safety first and foremost.
As they have said on the news reports "Maine is one small town" so I fully expect that many of you have relatives and friends in the Lewiston area and are experiencing the uncertainty and horror of this situation.
